The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is an impressive sedan that is loaded with today’s most in-demand technology. It features a striking appearance that is unmistakable as it zooms by on the highway. Drivers on the lookout for a new sedan should definitely look into the 2022 Jetta. Let’s take a deep dive into the different trim levels and options on the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta.

2022 Volkswagen Jetta Exterior

Drivers who feel connected to the appearance of their vehicle won’t have any doubts about the 2022 Jetta. The front fascia includes plenty of vivid characteristics that are sure to turn heads as you drive by. There are two front bumper and headlight designs.

The first is assigned to most trim levels on the new Jetta. This style features two thin grille panels with a crossbar design. The top half includes the iconic VW logo emblem in the center, with headlights serving as bookends. The lower half features a similar straight bar pattern and extends as wide as the headlights, making it slightly wider than the top grille. The headlight design on the Jetta is similar across the trim levels and features the high and low beam in the center with an LED light strip around it. Several chrome accents are included on the 2022 Jetta including around the top grille and on the side mirrors.

The other design is attached to the more premium Volkswagen Jetta GLI. At first glance, the two designs are similar but after a close look, it’s clear to see the stylistic upgrade that the GLI offers. The cross beam grille design is replaced with a more futuristic honeycomb pattern on both the upper and lower grille portions. Other changes include a black grille trim, black side mirrors instead of body-colored mirrors, and a more complex lower grille design. The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI also has a red GLI insignia on the grille.

The rear bumper design varies slightly between the two styles. Regardless of which trim level you opt for, the exterior is sure to make a statement when you head into Streetsboro for a fun night out.

2022 Volkswagen Jetta Trim Levels

There are four standard trim levels and one performance trim level on the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta.

Jetta S

This trim level is less feature-rich than others on the list but offers a great value for drivers who want an affordable option. Standard features on the 2022 Jetta S include 16-inch wheels, LED front and rear lights, cloth seating upholstery, and an eight-inch interactive display on the center console.

Jetta Sport

The 2022 Jetta Sport adds a few visual touches such as larger, 17-inch alloy wheels, a black headliner, and black exterior trim accents. In terms of performance, the Jetta Sport adds an XDS differential lock which was originally designed for the VW Golf. This helps to correct understeering when taking turns quickly in smaller vehicles.

Jetta SE

This trim sees the addition of multiple comfort features. Heated front seats, a six-way adjustable driver seat, and leatherette upholstery are all included on this trim level. Fourth in the mix is the SEL. This trim piles on added features including real leather upholstery and a sunroof. Other standout features on the 2022 Jetta SEL include a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, premium Beats Audio integration, and wireless device charging. Seating comfort also gets a boost at this trim level with the addition of ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats.

Jetta GLI

This is the performance level trim on the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. The GLI features the largest wheel size at 18-inches. It also adds performance brakes and a more powerful engine.

2022 Volkswagen Jetta Safety Features

Safety is always a top concern among car buyers. They want to make an investment that will not only hold its value and get you from point A to B but also to do it safely. The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta includes several impressive safety features that are sure to make drivers feel more comfortable on the road. Many great driver assistance features are now standard on the Jetta, including forward collision alerts, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitors, and crossing traffic alerts.

Added safety features are standard on the SE, SEL, and GLI trim levels. The IQ Drive package includes additional safety and driver assistance technology including active blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure prevention. Drivers who opt for the S or Sport trims can purchase the IQ Drive package as an option, but it is not standard with the sedan.

2022 Volkswagen Jetta Performance Features

The 2022 Jetta GLI pulls out all the stops when it comes to performance. However, both engine configurations for the Jetta provide a sporty and responsive performance that is anything but boring to drive. The GLI engine is a turbocharged 2.0-Liter engine with an output of 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A manual transmission is standard on the GLI. Drivers who can’t drive a stick have the option to swap in a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Drivers who get behind the wheel of the other VW Jetta trims will find a 1.5-Liter turbocharged engine. It’s not a new engine design, however, as it was ported over from the popular VW Taos. It has an output of 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque giving it plenty of power when needed for passing maneuvers and accelerating to highway speeds.

Quite a few improvements have been made to the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta compared to the 2021 model. The new exterior brings the sedan into a much more modern state of mind and the performance and safety technology features do not fail to impress.
