The newly released 2022 Volkswagen Taos is a compact SUV that feels anything but compact. The Taos is one of the larger compact SUVs, but it’ll fit easily into smaller parking spaces and other tight spots where full-size SUVs can’t. The interior of the Volkswagen Taos is nicely appointed, designed to provide comfort for both the driver and passengers, and has the latest in-cabin technology to make your drives fun, accessible, safe, and connected. When you’re ready to check out the Taos in person, contact us at Volkswagen of Streetsboro. In this guide, we’ll look at what you can expect from the interior of the 2022 Volkswagen Taos.

Volkswagen Interior Features

The interior of the 2022 Volkswagen Taos is nicely appointed at all trim levels. Getting into the base model won’t make you feel like you’re missing out, with standard features that include a 6.5-inch touch screen and infotainment system, HD radio, a four-speaker stereo, USB ports, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rearview camera, and a Wi-Fi hotspot with subscription.

If you decide you want the SE or SEL trim, you’ll get features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless device charging, satellite radio, and a premium surround sound system.

Interior Space and Seating

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is surprisingly generous and comfortable. You can choose from upholstery options that include:

  • Synthetic leather
  • Cloth
  • Genuine leather.

All trim levels of the Taos are capable of seating five people comfortably with 99.5 cubic feet of passenger room. Front headroom without a sunroof is 40.7 inches and 39.5 inches with a sunroof. Dimensions for rear headroom are slightly smaller. The front legroom is 40.1 inches, and the rear legroom is 37.9 inches. The rear seats also feature two sets of LATCH connectors on the outside seats and a tether anchor for the middle seat.

Volkswagen Taos Cargo Capacity

The front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the 2022 Volkswagen Taos have noticeably different cargo capacities. The front-wheel-drive version has 27.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear passenger seats. That number increases to 65.9 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.

In contrast, the all-wheel-drive version offers 24.9 cubic feet with seats up, and 60.2 cubic feet with seats down. The difference is significant between the two versions, but the loss of space in the all-wheel-drive version may be worth it for owners who want to go off-road and have the traction to get to a destination on back roads.

The deck, or liftover height, of the Taos is low, which makes it easy to load and unload anything you might want to put in and take out.

Available Trim Levels for the 2022 Volkswagen Taos

The Taos comes in three different trim levels that build nicely on the already well-equipped base model. The S trim level offers the latest in Volkswagen cockpit technology and creature comforts for passengers while the SEL offers touches that make the interior a cozy place to be with little effort. Here’s a look at the different trim levels on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos:

Taos S Trim Level

The S trim is the Taos base model, but is nicely equipped for an entry-level option. Some of the interior features include six-way manually adjustable front seats, cloth seats, manually operated air condition, two front USB-C data ports, Bluetooth connectivity, push-button start, 60/40 split rear seats, and the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. It also features a four-speaker sound system.

Taos SE Trim Level

The SE offers two different interior color options: solid black or two-tone gray and black seats along with a heated leatherette and cloth seating combo. The driver’s seat gets an eight-way power driver’s seat and lumbar support, leatherette steering wheel, and tinted privacy glass. The SE also features a six-speaker stereo system, wireless App-Connect, wireless phone charging, three USB-C ports, and satellite radio connectivity.

Taos SEL Trim Level

Comfort and convenience rule the SEL with features like the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro with a 10.25-inch display, GPS, heated leather seats and steering wheel, ventilated seats, Beats eight-speaker surround system, ambient lighting with 10 colors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The SEL also features rain-sensing wipers that turn on automatically during rainy conditions.
